Hello! My name is Joe Plazak and you’ve found my blog.

I am a freelance audio/music programmer and assistant professor in the School of Music at Illinois Wesleyan University. My current research interest investigates the influence of perceived sound-source size on the induced affective responses (i.e. how we hear the difference between big sounds and little sounds, and how these differences make us feel).

When I’m not researching and programming, you can find me at the local airport teaching people how to fly airplanes, playing “percussive guitar” in the metro tunnels, and sitting in the neighborhood coffee shop blogging about creative audio/visual coding and mobile development.

You can find my iOS & Android apps here and my scientific work here.  If you are interested in my current projects, check my webpage to get up to date.
